There's no I in Team

It's been awhile since I posted something to read that may be useful to a lot of people out there. I been really busy with other things therefore I haven't really had time to sit down and write something interesting to read. However I feel that it's that time again and something I've been discussing lately should be talked about. Teamwork.

A lot of things in life I notice are very hard to accomplish or attain alone. However if you had a team of people who are talented or beneficial to your cause in someway, the task becomes much easier and done much better. I've been a very independent person since I was young because of certain choices that I've made which I felt would be best for me. However I cannot say that I haven't had a lot of help along the way. There are quite a number of things in life we choose to do alone however we never considered asking for help. Maybe because we have too much pride or feel that there is no one available to help with what you are needing help with. Think about a corporate company for example. A company cannot run unless there are different people assigned to different things and making the whole company move. You cannot expect to run a whole company by yourself. Every person in the company is part of a team and without that team, the company will fail.

Here are some example of scenarios that people can do alone however with a partner or team, things become easier or lighter in some way. Purchasing a house... Doing a project... Opening a new business... Making a new website... Putting together a large event... etc. These types of things can be done alone however it does take a lot of effort and dedication from one person alone. In certain cases, it may be better to do things alone however for the most part, its best to assemble your team. Breaking up different tasks for multiple people makes the job get done better and more efficient; and if we're talking money, of course its much easier to split the payments up to each individual. Your team must be strong and capable in order to succeed. You must choose people you can rely upon and trust. You get better results and better ideas and second opinions to help take yourself down the right direction.

One thing people make mistakes on is picking the people for your team. A lot of times we lean towards our family or friends. In some instances, there are certain friends or family members who possess the skills necessary for the task at hand but a lot of times, that is not the case. It's a very thin line between business and friends. I recommend keeping those two things separate as best you can because combining the two may become hazardous. A lot of times, we want to be able to trust our friends or give them an opportunity to join your team because you feel obligated as a friend or family member to do so. The problem is that most of the time, that person isn't up to the task or possess the capabilities to achieve the same long term goal you are trying to achieve.

Take for example you opened up a new business. It's very likely that a lot of your friends or family members will be asking to be the manager or work for you, etc. The problem is are they qualified for the position? Will they represent your company in the best manner you were hoping to portray? Like I said, you may feel obligated because its your friend or family however you must take the bigger step and choose the right people for the job. Its unfortunate that we can't always help out our friends the way we want to, but would you rather have your dreams dropped because you wanted to give a small opportunity to a friend or family? Another bad thing that can happen is giving them a high position in your team and then having them get upset if you do not agree with their idea or proposition for a certain situation. Then not only do you lose a member of your team.. but you lose a friend.

They say the people you surround yourself with let you know who you are. One thing to keep in mind is that even though you may have grown up with certain people, doesn't always mean that they are the people you should continue to surround yourself with. Friends can drag you down in different directions you are trying to go or give you wrong advice which lead you only to dead ends. Now obviously this does not apply to all friends however you should be careful who you choose to keep around you.

Would it not be better to surround yourself with people who are going down the same path as you? Be able to share useful information from experiences you both will encounter. Reality is that people will perceive you in most cases by the people you hang with. For example; I am no gangster but my friends that chill with me tend to give off that impression to other people who see me with them. If your a girl and most of your girlfriends are sluts, don't you think people will automatically judge you based upon that too? I know people will say, well people can judge me all they want because they don't know me. Yes that's true however in life, realistically speaking.. first impressions and judging a book by it's cover is what most people go by.

The main point of this all is to not let family or friends hold you back from your true potential. I am not saying to abandon your friends but to keep them all separate from certain aspects of your life. Know who is a good friend and who can help from the ones that don't. Know who will be a huge benefit to your team from the ones who should just remain as friends.

Party Party Party! Let's All Get Wasted!

So this past month I have been doing a lot of partying (a lot to me because I don't party at all anymore. To other people it's nothing lol). That's why I really haven't been writing any serious food for thought blogs. Plus I been working like a slave on top of that anddd playing final fantasy lol. I went to Light on February 27th, Embassy on the 12th, Light again on the 13th, House on St. Patrick's Day and finally my brother's event "Guy's & Doll's" at Ultra on the 18th. Plus the regular drinking spots and partying at my house like usual. Unfortunately I only have pictures from Light on the 13th and Ultra. I am still getting a hold of the pictures from Light but I have stolen a few pictures I like from my brother's blog. I am still missing the backdrop pictures but I'll post those up soon. I am very camera shy therefore I am not in a lot of pictures. Most of the pictures would include my brother lol. Again if any of you don't know by now, my brother is Photo Will. So don't be surprised to see him in most of the pictures lol. I just wanted to post up a wide range of pictures from that night that I liked of people I knew or girls who were looking hot lol.

Dead Fantasy

I seen this short series quite awhile ago, but its been a long time since I've seen it again. I was again impressed. If you like action and are a fan of final fantasy, and dead or alive then I am confident that you will enjoy this. I know the graphics aren't that great but it's still pure action even for anyone who doesn't know those games. I think an asian guy named Monty Oum created it. Just a regular asian guy trying to make it in the gaming industry I guess. But still, I think it takes a lot of creativity to be able to make something like this by himself. Well the first episode he created alone but then he put together a team to expand the following episodes. The fighting is crazy and I'm really intrigued by how well he choreographed all these intricate fighting moves. He gets an A+ from me. Hope you guys like it.

My favourite ones are the 2nd and 5th episode.

Lacking Sleep

I been unable to get enough sleep over the past week and I'm starting to feel very out of it. Work only drags on and even though the night life (which is mainly the reason for no sleep) is fun and exciting.. It starts to become very draining on my body. Having various groups of friends and people to chill with gets rather hectic because you have to always make time for everyone to be fair to all. I'm not Mr. Popularity but I have a lot of good friends I choose to surround myself with but unfortunately it sucks when you have to choose one over the other. Trying to make time for everyone is nice but then you start losing time for yourself. I tend to go crazy at times though when I'm home alone and bored out of my mind so I can't complain when friends want to hang out. I guess it's not a big deal because not everyone even has time for friends based upon their busy lives so I should be thankful to have a lot of friends to keep me smiling. I just hope that over the next week or so I'll be able to get more sleep and actually be able to sleep in without getting phone calls, errands to run, or have certain people over that keep me up till morning (yu know who yu are, lol). This post is probably boring to most of you because it has no meaning but I just needed to rant about it I guess. I didn't sleep till 5-6am last night and then I had to wake up at 10am for work. I was hoping to get some sleep tonight but a friend demanded my attendance for her birthday tonight so there goes that plan. I have work even earlier tomorrow so I don't know how I'm going to last. Therefore I'm going to take a nap right now. See all of you in a few lol.

I Gotta Feeling..

That tonight's today's gonna be a good day.. that today's gonna be a good good daayyyy..

lol speaking of which.. I had a great day today.. everything went my way and I'm all smiles once again. License suspension was lifted free of charge, errands were done swiftly, chilled with every person who I wanted to chill with, and finally got my game from years of constant impatience with trailers and pushed back release dates.. I'm going to be missing from reality for a bit lol.

How Was Your Day?

When I first told myself that I should write a blog. One of the reasons to do it was because I didn't want to write a diary of my life however I really wanted to be able to look back and actually remember in more detail of how my life has gone by. People who know me know I have a very bad memory. When I get old (past my fifty's), I want to be able to actually read through in detail of how my younger days were and actually be able to re-live them again for old times sake.

I didn't really plan on writing a post like this until about 5 mins ago so I am winging it just so you know. So.. how have the past 3 months gone for me.. It's definitely been quite a roller coaster. I guess I'll recap from the beginning of January.

2010 definitely started off with a bang for me. I rang in the new year at a very upscale party downtown with my brother and some friends. When I say upscale, I'm talking dress code to the tee. (Suits, ties, dress clothes, shoes, caviar, champagne, rich white people mostly, the works) It was a great feeling to surround myself in an environment like that because I was able to talk to and be around other successful individuals and get a feel of the type of direction I wanted to go towards in life. Another great thing about the party was that it was open bar. (Score!) I also remember getting a lot of free things. I was given an Iphone (it was the first generation iphone with 8gb) from my dad because he found it in a restaurant and he didn't know how to use it. And it happen right after I lost my blackberry. (Oh how I miss you bb buddy) Soon after that I found a 3G 16gb Iphone while I was at work. Like what are the chances lol. I also received a lot of other free things I can't seem to remember. There were small things but free nonetheless. See what I mean by I have a bad memory. I can't recall anything else much significant remaining in January but I could easily have forgotten just like a lot of other things. Other then that, in terms of work.. It was DEAD! Like obviously everyone was broke from Christmas and recession so I guess I couldn't really complain.

February rolled around and love was in the air. Not for me though lol still single pringle. Work started to get a bit busy cause of Valentines but still dead nonetheless. Again my memory is still a bit fuzzy so I can't really recall much except buying games like Bayonetta and Assassin's Creed 2 which occupied a bit of my time. Middle of February came and I remember driving to work early on a Saturday morning following all traffic laws when suddenly I see flashing lights in my rearview. And that's when I was informed of the license suspension. It was a dark day in the Michael Pham house. After that I was not allowed to drive my vehicle and boy did I feel miserable. But hey, everything happens for a reason. I began walking to close by locations and taking the TTC more often. I realize that as I am always speeding through life in my car, I never get a chance to slow down and actually appreciate my surroundings. I also notice that I see much more people as I take the TTC versus staying hidden in my all black tinted car. Either way though.. I would still prefer driving lol. But I guess it's nice once and awhile to be able to slow down and enjoy the little things in life.

And now we have arrived here. March 2010. I recently finished diamond training at work and am now a "diamond expert". Sounds cool but not as very complex as it sounds. I am now 6-7 months into my current job and have progressed very well. I have been put in charge of all watches within the store as well as watch merchandising. (Basically making sure that all the displays and presentations of the watches are done correctly as well as putting together new decor as I see fit.) I am being put to work more then other sales people as my head office manager's have been very pleased with my sales performance and hope to groom me into a manager for their store. That will come in a year or so of hard work but unfortunately for now, I gotta pay the cost to be the boss.

And now I am here.. blogging about myself which most of you would probably care less but I hope that this will bring back some little memories for myself in the future. Even though nothing very significant happened in the past 3 months. It's a start and I know I will continue to progress and move forward to bigger and better things. Tomorrow is my day off and my game I have been anticipating is also being released tomorrow. So yes, I am a video game nerd and will definitely be occupied for most of my day tomorrow. If I don't blog for awhile, you'll know why lol. I may also be revisiting this post and making possible edits if some other significant memories hit me over the next few days. Anyways, good night friends. Thanks for your continued support of my blog and I hope I can keep you entertained as usual.

They say music is a bridge between heaven and earth

This is dedicated to all the dance fans out there. I love shows like America's Best Dance Crew and watching choreographed performances. I always did really want to date a girl that knew how to dance professionally. I find a girl who can dance so hot.. *drools* lol. But anyways.. I am also definitely putting at least one of my kids through a dancing school at an early age. It's always so cute to see little kids bustin moves and grooves on the dance floor.

I find dancers who dance in groups that are very synchronized and athletic, always put on an amazing performance and show. I love music too and when combined with well choreographed dancing, it's the best thing since sliced bread. lol

The introduction is a bit slow to start but the performance that starts 11:00 mins in is quite amazing. I hope you guys enjoy it and to all the dancers out there, keep doing your thang because this day and age, if you keep trying your best and dedicated to your dream.. anything can happen.

Fight Club

This movie is very interesting. This is definitely one of my top ten movies of all time. Not just for the fighting (even though I love watching fights) but if you look at the things they talk about such as how the media has influenced us to live in a particular lifestyle and want things we don't need etc. It is very interesting to really think about society as a whole. The things we're bound to in life and the things that matter and don't matter.

There was one particular scene that made me really think. When Brad Pitt took a convenient store worker out back and put a gun to his head. Asked him what he was studying in college and why he didn't continue. The clerk said that it was too much schooling. He wanted to become a veterinarian. Tyler (Brad Pitt) told him that he is taking his license and will check up on him in 6 weeks. If he is not on his way to becoming a veterinarian, he will die. That was basically a life and death moment for the clerk which will change his life forever.

It made me think that if a lot of people were in that situation. It would definitely make people work harder and become what they want to be. But why do we need to let it come to that though. Why is it that we need a close encounter with death to open our eyes to the bigger picture. Why can't we push ourselves to our utmost potential without being threatened or anything along those lines.

This movie also talks about the materialistic items we take for granted. I have talked about this in an earlier post from before and so I won't get into too much detail. A quote he said in the movie was "once we lose everything, we are free to do anything." Which I think is very true. A lot of things in our life (materialistically speaking) we take for granted and we continue to want more. What would you want to do if you were going to die tomorrow? What would you say about your life if you were going to die tomorrow?

He states that you should KNOW that your going to die. Do not fear it. Embrace it and let go of all the negative thoughts about death. It will be the only way you can really live. Do what means most to you. Do what you can when you get the chance to do it. Do not waste time or waste emotions and feelings on things that do not matter. Do not let things get the best of you. Or else the things you own, will end up owning you.

Another thing I thought about was how there's kind of 2 sides to every story and 2 sides to every person. I feel like there are 2 sides of me too which is like the main character. One side is more strong, confident and more street smart where as the other is more sensitive, cautious and less risky. I don't know if this is like this with anyone else and maybe I am crazy like the main character lol but I really do feel there are 2 sides of me. And different situations call for different personality traits.

Anyways, I can't summarize every point in the movie but there are a lot of good points they get across. If you haven't watched it yet or in a long time. I definitely recommend seeing it again. It will open your eyes to a lot of things. Great movie.

Too Good To Be True?

This really blew my mind that we continuously keep moving forward with technology. Now I don't know 100 percent if this is real but if it is. My god.. Are you serious? This is getting insane. I guess it really is true that one day in the near future that EVERYTHING will be computers and LCD screens. I love technology and I can only imagine what the future holds.
